Nimati ghat is the gateway to the world's biggest deltaic river island – Majuli. Majuli is accessible only by ferry – From Jorhat, the nearest ferry is Nimati (20 km) –Takes 1 to 1.30 hrs in boat to reach Majuli. You are disembarking at Kamlabari Ghat – 5 km drive from Kamlabari Ghat takes you to Majuli town – Ferry boat carries both passengers and vehicles- Own vehicles can be ferried across if additional fee is paid – The town bears the look of an old village centre 25 years back– Tourists attracted to Majuli for 2 reasons, Majuli’s natural beauty and its Vaishnavite culture – Majuli is a bio-diversity hotspot bearing rich ecology with rare breeds of flora and fauna - It is also a learning centre of Assamese Neo- Vaishnavite philosophy.
